Starry Skies will return, from 27th – 30th July 2023.
Tickets will go on sale on 16th November at 12pm.
It’s been a tricky old few years – not least for our children and younger folk! As we emerge from pandemic life and now navigate the cost of living, we have a renewed sense of what’s most important… the simple things in life; family time, the great outdoors, shared experiences, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones… preferably round a campfire, under a blanket of starry skies…
With that in mind, it seems high time for our family camping holiday to make a return.
“Get back to where you once belonged!“
Veteran Starry Skies campers will no doubt be delighted to learn we’re going home – back to the simply stunning Kentchurch Estate, Herfordshire – in an international dark sky reserve (hence our name!).
This means a return to star gazing, a return to lantern lit paths through wooded glades, a return to our beautiful wooden roundhouse, lush meadows, rippling wheat fields and a return to THAT iconic view of light hitting the rolling hills of the black mountains.
What to expect…
The best bits of a family camping holiday, mushed together with the best bits of a family friendly festival in a safe, beautiful, intimate environment full of likeminded families, free play activities, top notch facilities, delicious food, a well stocked bar and fantastic live music that winds up in time for a good night’s kip.
Taking the kids to a festival can feel an endurance test – it’s loud, it’s busy, you don’t want to lose them in a crowd, you don’t want worse-for-wear folks stumbling into them and you keep missing all the best bands because it’s bedtime.
Taking the kids camping is wonderful whilst the weather holds but can feel a bit isolating if the kids get bored, and before you know it you’re handing over the iPad to keep them entertained so you can finally sneak in a chapter of your book. We know – we’ve been there, which is exactly why we created Starry Skies.
You bring the kids, your tent or your camper van and a sense of adventure…
We’ll bring the forest school, the adventure playground, the zip wires, the mud kitchens, the football tournaments, the communal campfires and the live music.
No need to stress planning a schedule, our nature-based activity programme for all ages runs throughout the day so you can drop in and out at your leisure.
Our independence and non-corporate nature means no sneaky brand activations or feeling like you’re being quietly marketed to by corporate sponsors. Just good old fashioned fun in the great outdoors, scaling trees, building dens, stretching out with family yoga, kicking back with a beer to watch the talent show and then throwing shapes at the legendary family disco, or a stonking live performance from a brilliant band or artist, before winding things down with a sing song, cocoa in hand, round the fire and padding back to camp, through the woods and into the meadow.
But don’t just take our word for it…
“The best thing about it was seeing the joy on my son’s face at being able to run wild and unsupervised – a sense of freedom I took for granted at his age but, where we live at least, is now sadly missing.” – The Guardian
“A chance to let go of our 21st century need to be constantly watchful of our children and to let them run off into the woods with their friends.” Festival Kidz
“If you love the great outdoors, or wish you could spend more time in nature with your kids, then Starry Skies is for you!” – Green Parent Magazine
